Pysanky is a traditional Slavic, particularly Ukrainian, art form using a wax-resist (batik) method to decorate eggshells with intricate symbols and vibrant colors. Using a tool called a kistka, beeswax is applied to raw or blown eggs, which are then dipped in increasingly darker dyes. The wax is finally melted off to reveal the finished design.
